Below is a baby diet plan, timetable to help mothers with deciding on what foods a baby should eat. The feeding schedule is meant for Kenyan Babies because most of the ingredients listed are available locally.
The meal timetable below ensures that your baby eats a weekly balanced diet foods that is proteins, fiber, carbohydrates, vitamins, fats, Water, Minerals e.t.c
Monday Meals
- Breakfast: Porridge
- Snack (10 am): Apple
- Lunch: ½ c Boiled Rice, ½ c Ndengu and ½ c Cabbage
- Snack (4pm): Fruits (Mango/ Ripe Banana)
- Supper: ½ c Mashed Matoke/Irish Potatoes, ½ c Lean Beef and ½ c Vegetables
Tuesday Meals
- Breakfast: Sweet Potatoes, 1c Fresh Mango Juice
- Snack (10am): Yoghurt 150ml (low fat)
- Lunch: ½ c Pasta, ½ c Lentils, and Dark Green Vegetables
- Snack (4 pm): Nuts (Peanuts/groundnuts) and a glass of Water
- Supper: Ugali (1 fist size), Palm Size fish and 1c Kunde/spinach
Wednesday Meals
- Breakfast: Arrowroot (1 fist size) and 1 c porridge
- Snack (10 am): 1c Mango juice
- Lunch: 1 soft Chapati (White/Brown), ¼ Beans and 1c broccoli + Carrots
- Snack (4 pm): Pineapple/Watermelon
- Supper: ½ c Mashed Potatoes, 1c Vegetables, and ½ c Fresh Milk
Thursday Meals
- Breakfast: 2 Slices Brown Bread Sandwich (Tomatoes+Cucumber+Avocado), ½ c fresh milk
- Snack (10am): 1c porridge
- Lunch: ½ c Boiled Rice, ½ c Lentils and Cabbage
- Snack (4 pm): Tangerine Fruit
- Supper: ½c Matoke + Carrots and ½ c Green Peas (Minji) Stew
Friday Meals
- Breakfast: Cerelac mix with warm clean water/ Fresh milk
- Snack (10 am): Orange/Pawpaw (Blended/Whole Fruit)
- Lunch: ½ c Soft Githeri and Vegetable Salad (Tomato+Onions+Cucumber etc)
- Snack (4 pm): Ribena
- Supper: ½ c Beans and 1c Lightly Fried Cabbage
Saturday Meals
- Breakfast: 1 Boiled Egg, 2slices of Bread (white/Brown) and ½ c Fresh Milk
- Snack (10am): 1c Porridge
- Lunch: ½ c Baby Rice, Green Grams (Ndengu) and 1c Spinach
- Snack (4 pm): 150ml Yogurt (Low fat)
- Supper: ½ c Matoke, 1c Pumpkin Leaves, and Green Peas (Minji) Stew
Sunday Meals
- Breakfast: Malenge (Fist size), 1c Porridge
- Snack (10am): 1c Porridge
- Lunch: 1 Soft Chapati, 4 pieces of Liver and 1c spinach
- Snack (4 pm): Kiwi Fruit/Tomato (Blended/Whole)
- Supper: Whole Meal Ugali, 1c Managu/Kales and Fish/Omena/1Piece Chicken
Using the Baby Food Timetable
1c (one cup) equal to 250mls
Lean Meat means no visible fats in meat
Skin out the chicken before cooking
Use cooking oil sparingly
Remember to give water after every meal
Fruits (one type at a time either blended or whole fruit
You can always interchange the foods but keep the portions
